Taking advantage of the H1N1 talk going around. There are some very basic and very relevant problems in our society that have very simple solutions to reduce the spread of various diseases...

First, no hospital can remain profitable if it stockpiles various drugs and treatments in case of a pandemic -- and that goes especially for those drugs that have a limited shelf life. Reforming certain medical systems to operate in a more civil service method might help create a system that can react to sudden public needs. Not everything about the medical industry needs to be run for profit.

Factory farms force animals into such crowded and unsanitary conditions that they feed anti-biotics to the livestock to guard against diseases. This over-use can breed 'super-bugs' that become resistant to antibiotics. Factory farming should just be abolished -- there's nothing so good about the practice that we can't do without it.

Workers should be allowed more PAID sick time and better precautionary measures in cases of flu and cold seasonal cases. Without these policies, people are forced to show up sick, spreading the diseases further in very social environments. I'm looking at you, Walmart.

And finally... shoppers... I don't care if you need to pick up more medicine or you're out of food -- unless it's a prescription that you must sign for, you should try hard to find a friend or relative to do your shopping trips for you so you don't give your disease to a cashier or pharmacist.

I would argue that, in a free society, there would no doubt be a large number of individuals worried about such pandemics erupting, and would be willing to put their money into either creating such a medical stockpile, from which any number of private medical institutions could draw, or else fund someone who would.

Dude, you've got some of the most thought-provoking art I've see in a long while. Been crawling your gallery for almost an hour now. Keep up the good stuff!
