Worked Too Well

Description

It can be hard to find the drive to do or change anything without some emotional connection.

My views, however sensitive and progressive they may seem, are mostly driven by the realist ideals of what works, versus what doesn't work. That's a very cold place to be weighing compassion from -- and I blame the thick skin I was forced (that we're probably all forced) to develop while growing up.

Or... perhaps I do care, and my so called 'thick skin' just leads me to justify my feelings with cold logic so I am not left with raw exposed emotion when entering into social conflict.

Sucks that so many horrible people have succeeded in attaching many practical environmental and consumer actions with a meaningless culture war. That makes it so much harder to figure out which actions are overreaching, selfish, or just common sense.

This is so relevant to some personal conflicts I'm currently dealing with. And you articulated the essence of it so clearly.
