We live in an age where scientific progress advances faster than our ability to understand what we have discovered. Medical progress advances faster than our senses of morality and philosophy. And social change is advancing faster than our ability to understand that change.

To that I say: humanity needs to work harder to keep up.

Caution and sound judgement are required for progress to actually create any progressive movement, but no moralist, scientist, philosopher, pundit, or politician has the right to halt honest advancements because they keep confusing their own concepts of good sense and caution with their apathy and fear.

Oh... and on a personal note -- corporations need to get the hell out of the way of environmentally sound technologies as well -- or die the capitalism fuelled evolution.

Green = efficiency -- eat a hot plate of death, General Motors :)

Amen to all of that! Chicken-with-its-head-cut-off VERY good choice of imagery. I too am getting pretty sick of this sort of thing...a surge of advancement without reason in meaningless areas, and a complete lack of advancement in areas where it is truly needed.

 Wonderfully eloquent and yet... quite painfully, even shockingly, blunt.
You're awesome, man.

Awww... I agreed with you up until the very end.

You are absolutely right - humanity does not understand what it has created, and sort of uses the majority of scientific advances as it would toys, without regard to cost. Occasionally, it's effective - Morphine, for example, was a necessary evil. We have since moved past, thank goodness, but even during the Civil War, imagine all the pain prevented the thousands of amputees thanks to Morphine.

Re: "Going Green", I am not oblivious to the fact that we have a growing trash problem - we have affected the world in many, sadly, tragic, ways (i.e. oil spills). But a couple issues, such as Global Warming I find to still be entirely questionable.
Methinks you meant if we can do something more efficiently, we should do so, though it may be a little more pricey up front - and if that is what you intended to say - I wholeheartedly agree.
However, if you intended to side with favor to the Global Warming side, I must firmly (but lovingly), disagree. :)

Worry less about what you say and more about what you do.
:iconandrew-warman:
You disagree that Global Warming is an issue?

Great choice of imaginary, and text, the first thing I thought of after reading it all was Cloning. We've put a stop to Human cloning on Moral grounds. Just think of the good it could do though.

Of course we don't want people cloning themselves, and letting the run round.
:iconpseudo-manitou:
Global warming is a myth -- but Global Climate Change, that is very real, and it's a threat recognized by everyone but paid whore researchers.

But if you do not believe in such things, that's fine -- there are hundreds of economical, environmental, health, and social benefit to America and the world to kill off the combustible engine, toss away gadgets, and inefficient homes.

Feel free to pose your essay on why Global Climate Change is not real -- but I tend to find such reasoning as selfish and apathetic -- IE: not something I can equally 'lovingly' disagree with.
And... you're in the minority here as well, so choose your words carefully.

Even if they do clone themselves, I don't see any harm...?
unless it harms the clones, then that's different.

:cries: sorry, off topic. Had to get that off my chest.

I concur. Very nice vector, too.
