I'm writing a novel as part of a Nerdist/Inkshares competition about a video-game playing octopus and would be interested in paying someone to do some concept artwork. I love what you have done and so wondered if you would be interested in talking? You can check out my story at www.inkshares.com/books/squids… It's currently in 5th place overall. The top 3 get immediately published.

Do you object to this image being incorporated into a full sleeve tattoo? I have tried contacting you via social media and DA asking to commission you for a piece but as of yet I haven't heard back from you. I do not like the concept of using someones art without their permission and am seeking such. Thankyou for your time sir, your work is so vibrant and the lines are fantastic, hence why i would like to have it permanently XD

Sorry for the delay in reply. Also sorry to say, I've never seen any messages from you...

But, to make it worth your time -- you can certainly use this image.
However, I warn you, my line-art is difficult to translate into tattoos. Seek out a very experienced tattoo artist. It's worth the money.

And if you are satisfied with what you get, please send a picture if at all possible. Thank you.

Thank you very much sir, the time will be in the near future, as you say, an experienced artist with fantastic line work will be needed. Then there is the time and money. But I will definately send you the results XD. Once again I cannot thank you enough, keep on drawing, your style is amazing :)

Yaay, an octopus! The most awesome animal ever!

You really did great with this! All the arms and suckers everywhere. Really captures the octopus's essence really well. I love how its arms curl like they do. So fantastic. And of course it comes complete with your trademark beautiful wrinkles.

I do not see how some people find octopus unattractive. They're such amazing creatures, what's not to like?

Did you intentionally make the water seen between the octopus's arms darker?

That's cool. You are good with illustrator. Did you do the sketches by hand or in the computer?

I am not very good with illustrator, but I think that the function "live trace" is very good. I uploaded an experiment i did the other day. If you have the time, would you like to take a look at it and say what you think I can do to improve it?

here it is anyway: [link]

Thanks for the help. I used a digital camera and darkened the pictures in photoshop. Then I put the picture in illustrator. But I think that ink must be much better, then you get the lines as you want them right away. I don't know if the quality of the picture matters that much if you are going to use live trace on it anyway.

...usually, the larger the image is, and the higher the resolution is -- the better the result.

You're making a deck of cards? Will this be a mass-produce thing or just a limited edition?

It's a very limited edition. And it has already been produced a long time ago.

Check the website: [link]

These days, people have to actively hunt these cards down. I only have one deck left myself, and I play on keeping it.

That is really cool, and thank you for the link to the deck of cards, looks like quite a project but I think it'll be very cool when it's done. You seem to like these colors, you use them beautifully and this peice is so sharp. I totally didn't notice the diamonds until I wondered about the description.

Long time admirer, first time poster. Beautiful work, but am I missing the thing that gives it scale? I mean, right now it just looks like an octopus :S

I'm not sure what you mean by your use of the word 'scale', but for now - all it's supposed to be is an octopus.

Very groovy, man. Good use of smooth shapes on this. Looks smooth, but the contrast gives a bit of an edge. Hot stuff overall, as usual.

Ohhh, the diamonds are so quiet that they made me squeal with delight. I also love how the outline fades as it goes into the background. Who'd have thought something entitled GiantOcto could be so subtle and peacefully lovely? :)
